The new tax will become effective in January 2013, and will be applied to investment income for high-income households. The tax will apply to a single person whose annual income is $200,000 or more, or to a married couple whose combined annual income is $250,000 or more.
It is estimated that the tax will bring in $210 Billion to help with Medicare.
