Monitoring your Credit Report

You will want to review your actual credit report as it is being reported to all three credit bureaus. It is very common to find errors on your credit report that could be contributing towards a lower credit score. You are entitled to receive a free annual credit report from all three major credit bureaus.

Once you have received your free credit report from each credit bureau, you will want to do the following:

Read and know your Rights – Before we get into the actual report, you will want to familiarize yourself with your credit rights. See Your Credit Rights for more details.

Monitoring Your Credit

Review your credit report for accuracy – Confirm that your name, age and current addresses are correct; confirm all account names listed are businesses with which your either currently hold an account with, or have held an account with at one time. If there is an account you do not recognize, this could be a sign of fraud; confirm all financial information is accurate. Make sure your balances and limits are being reported correctly. On closed accounts, they should note if they were closed by you the consumer, or by the grantor; Check for duplicate entries. It isn’t uncommon to find the same entry reported twice.

Resolve inaccurate findings – If you do find inaccurate information being reported on your credit report, you may file a dispute with the credit bureau that is in error. Once you file a dispute, it can take up to 30 days to resolve once the inquiry is opened. After the inquiry period, you will receive an updated report either showing the correction, indicating the account is being reported correctly, or the account may even be removed from your report entirely if the issue wasn’t resolved within the inquiry time frame.

  1. Howdy this is kind of of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Because of my past experience with coding, I always write my posts using HTML. However I do use WordPress to publish my blog, which does contain a WYSIWYG editor. If you haven’t already started your blog, you may want to look into WordPress. Also, if you don’t want to hire someone to design you site appearance, there are also a ton of free designs available through WordPress.
